In addition to bands like The Sweet, Slade or T. Rex was Kiss for their
costumes and masks often associated with the concept of Glam Rock. The
music critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote ones: "The music of Kiss
is a commercially-functioning mixture of anthemic, guitar-embossed hard
rock, and ballads, in which the guitars flow. That's the sound that
allowed the 'arena rock'and 'Pop-Metal', which ruled in the 1980s, rock
music. "
Kiss dressed in the days of glam rock very much darker - mainly in
leather - and played even harder and louder. The horror show was in
contrast to the rather sweet image of glam rock. Kiss regarded as pioneers
in inventing ever-new merchandise, or as the band that invented the
merchandising in a big way and revolutionized. Just alone in 1980 they
were implemented to over 100 million U.S. dollars. In 1997, the toy
manufacturer McFarlane Toys, brought out a first series of realistic
miniature figures of the Kiss-musicians. This proved to be a big seller
among collectors, so that four other Kiss series followed, and also other
rock stars were portrayed.
With their sound from the 70s Kiss influenced generations of musicians.
Lenny Kravitz, members of Metallica, Nirvana, Lordi, Pearl Jam and Green
