| Lynyrd Skynyrd (initially Lynard Skynard) is an American
rock band. They are one of the most important representatives of the
popular 1970s Southern rock. Well-known songs are "Simple Man",
"Free Bird", and "Sweet Home Alabama".
Their music is a hard-played mix of rock, blues-rock, and country. The
lyrics address typical Southern themes. Also, appearance and atmosphere of
the band embodies the typical Southern values and a sense of the region.
Lynyrd Skynyrd are different from the other typical Southern rock bands
like the Allman Brothers, who were embracing their music with jazz
elements.
