Boys Like Girls is an American rock band from Boston, Massachusetts.
The band first gained popularity on the Internet, where they published their first demos and created a fan base. Unti a producer got their attention. They toured in 2006 and then presented their debut album. The album what is titled with the band's name appeared in August at Red Ink / Columbia, and remained long unnoticed. Only with the publication of the song The Great Escape came after a month long wait the break through. The single managed to reached # 23 in the official charts and sold over a million copies. After that the album sales went up as well but didn't make it past number 55 in the charts, also the debut album spent over a year in the charts rankings and reached gold status. Two other singles were also awarded gold. On March 17 2007 the band was voted by the readers of Spin magazine for Artist of the Year 2006The completion of a follow-up album took some time until 2009 Drunk Love was released. There went immediately to No. 1 on the Rock Albums chart and also reached the Billboard 200 in 8th place The decoupled title song was also very successful and was already their fourth title that at least half a million copies sold. The album includes a collaboration with Taylor Swift, the most successful artist of the year 2009 in the U.S., which was selected as the second publication. By Melanie Bradley
