Lady Gaga (born March 28, 1986 in New York, and as Stefani Angelina Joanne Germanotta) is an American pop singer and songwriter. After working as a songwriter for the Pussycat Dolls, she released her debut album The Fame in August 2008, what made first place in the charts in Canada, Austria, Germany and Ireland. Its first two singles Just Dance and Poker Face became world's number-one hits. The album later scored six Grammy nominations and was awarded best Electronic-/Dance-Album and the best dance recording. In early 2009 she performed the opening act of the New Kids on the Block and the Pussycat Dolls and made her first solo tour The Fame Ball Tour. In November 2009 she released her second album, The Fame. In addition, she began her second tour The Monster Ball Tour. Meanwhile she sold over 64 million records worldwide, and became one of the most successful female artists of today.
Lady Gaga is inspired by glam-rock musicians such as David Bowie and Queen, and also by pop music artists like Madonna and Michael Jackson. She also called fashion as a source of inspiration for her songs and performances. Her name "Gaga" was inspired by  studio producer Rob Fusari, who sang the song Radio Ga Ga by Queen  on the visits to the studio as a greeting. By an auto-correction of Fusari's mobile phone   "Radio" was changed to "Lady". Gaga liked it so much that she accepted it as a stage name.
