Michael Joseph Jackson (born August 29, 1958 in
Gary, Indiana; † 25 June 2009 in Los Angeles, California) was an
American singer, composer, dancer and entertainer. With more than 750
million copies sold Michael Jackson was, according to the Guinness Book of
World Records the most successful entertainer of all time, and is called
the King of Pop. Posthumously he sold another 33 million of his albums. He
was also known for his charitable activities. He is listed in the Guinness
book as the pop star, who had donated to most organizations.
Jackson was a childstar of the popular band The Jackson Five in the
1970s. As a solo artist he released in 1982 Thriller, the world's
best-selling album to date. Also, he had worldwide success with the albums
Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), HIStory (1995) and
Invincible (2001).
