Epiphone Paul McCartney 1964 Texan Acoustic Guitar Antique Natural Nickel Hardware
$1,949.99
or- $59/month
The Epiphone Paul McCartney 1964 Texan Acoustic Guitar is a faithful replica of the acoustic guitar with which Paul performed "Yesterday!" A limited production run of 1,964 Texans commemorates 1964, the year the Beatles came to America. They are sequentially numbered and come with a custom case and certificate of authenticity. The solid spruce top and solid mahogany back deliver full, rich tone. The 1964 Texan's one-piece mahogany neck has a rosewood fretboard with pearl parallel inlays. All the details are right, from the matching grain filler/lacquer finish down to the 1/8" gap between the back center strip and the headstock detail. These Epiphone guitars are "hand-aged" to re-create the antique finish of the original. All the lacquer cracks and other wear and tear details are meticulously added by hand to accurately depict Sir Paul's original acoustic in its current condition. 25-1/2" scale with 1-5/8" bone nut. With each Epiphone McCartney Texan sold, Adopt-A-Minefield will receive a percentage of the profit.

The Limited Edition Paul McCartney 1964 Texan is a duplicate of the popular guitar that he used to record “Yesterday” and that he starred with on the Ed Sullivan Show. Sir Paul James Mccartney has performed with Epiphone to make sure that every little bit of his original ’64 Texan (which he still has and plays today) is historically correct - from the Antique Natural finish to plastic-button Kluson machine heads to the “C” shape Mahogany neck. Each of these guitars is uniquely numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity and a custom Ultralight- Hardcase.

Honoring the year of the Beatles historical on Stage performance on the Ed Sullivan show, this Sequence is limited to only 1,964 instruments worldwide and is hand-crafted in Japan by the luthiers who make Epiphone’s Elitist series guitars. These guitars are made out of the best solid mahogany and Sitka spruce available. The neck is fitted just like it was in 1964, with a tapered “dovetail” joint. The lacquer finish has been custom mixed to exactly match the color and sheen of a 1964 Epiphone Texan. Sir Paul Mccartney worked with Epiphone to make sure every detail has been just like the original, right down to the off-white grain filler, side dots on the fingerboard, and even the small gap between inside back strip and the head block (a detail Sir Paul McCartney himself pointed out during the design Process). Additional features include: • Solid mahogany back/sides, Sitka Spruce top, and Rosewood fingerboard • Vintage 1964 tapered dovetail neck joint and adjustable bridge saddle • 25.5” Scale/1.68” Nut Width • “Mother of Pearl” parallelogram fingerboards inlays with historic “Dot” headstock inlay • “Mother of Pearl” vintage Epiphone logo on headstock • Tortoise pickguard with original foil “E” logo • Nickel Hardware • Custom lightweight fabric-covered guitar case with McCartney’s signature and model name embroidered on the front • Individually Numbered Certificate of Authenticity “It's exciting to have my old guitar reproduced by Gibson,” said Sir Paul McCartney. “It’s exact and what’s more it sounds great.” “Working with such a legendary artist and extraordinary human being on this guitar is remarkable,” said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. “We are very lucky to have the opportunity to collaborate with Sir Paul McCartney and look forward to many more years of experiences with him.” Epiphone has been part of the Gibson family of brands since 1957, and Sir Paul McCartney’s original guitar was made in the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1964. The guitar, serial number 194959, was officially a model FT-79N (N for natural finish), that had left the Gibson factory on May 23, 1964. McCartney bought it in New York in 1965. List price at the time was $175, and the case was for free. Today, original Texan guitars are selling for as much as 20 times or more that price. Gibson President Dave Berryman presents Sir Paul McCartney with a donation to Adopt-A-Minefield on November 15, 2005. For more information about Adopt-A-Minefield, visit www.landmines.org.
