Profile: Seeger's mother was a violin teacher and
his father a musicologist. Seeger spent years traveling around the US,
learning songs from farmers and other workers. He then performed with the
Almanac Singers with Woody Guthrie, then with the Weavers, before going
out on his own. His songs were often about political issues such as
poverty and the environment.
