The Schecter Guitar Research is an American guitar and bass guitar manufacturer based in Burbank (California).

Initially  Schecter just
made instrument parts. The company started in 1989 to bring a guitar and later a bass guitar collection on the market. As Schecter doesn't sell their instruments themselves, the company has licensed sellers in the U.S. and Europe.

Schecter instruments are relatively difficult to obtain because they are rarely available in the local music store
s. The reason for this is that Schecter guitars and basses are not sent out, such as the models of the company Fender in a central European stock, but only go in small numbers at the stores directly out.   Both the guitars and the basses are used primarily in metal and hard rock, but also found in jazz and blues some use.

Schecter,
just like other well-known guitar manufacturers has also a "Signature" series, those guitar models had on their design and technical equipment known guitarists and bassists influence, such as those of the American metalcore band Avenged Sevenfold inspired Avenged Sevenfold Custom Series. Well-known musicians who play guitar or bass from Schecter are, for example, Robert Smith of The Cure, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, Jeff Loomis of Nevermore and Sami Yli-Sirniö Waltari. Also Alternative Metal / Nu Metal bands like Papa Roach (guitarist Jerry Horton) and Seether (singer / guitarist Shaun Morgan) swear by Schecter models.
