Therapy? is a rock band that was founded in 1989 in Northern Ireland.
In 2009 the band released their twelfth studio album. There are also a
best-of album and several singles of their work.
Therapy? was founded in 1989, by Andy Cairns (vocals, guitar) and Fyfe
Ewing (drums) in Northern Ireland. That same year, the band recorded their
first demo and Michael McKeegan (bass), former school friend of Fyfe
Ewing, joined the band. In 1990 the band toured for the first time in
Britain and released their first single, with a circulation of 1,000
pieces. In addition, the recording started for the first album Babyteeth,
which was published in July 1991.
In 1992 the band released the album Pleasure Death, which was placed in
the British indie charts. This was followed by a great European tour and a
recording contract with A & M Records. At the end of the year Therapy?
brought the Nurse album with the single Teethgrinder out. In 1993 the band
landed with Screamager, i.e. the corresponding EP Short Sharp Shock, in
ninth place in the UK charts, accompanied by a sold-out tour and an
appearance on Top of the Pops. After a two month U.S. tour with support by
the band Helmet and The Jesus Lizard, they began in Northern Ireland,
together with their producer Chris Sheldon in the preparation of their
next album Troublegum, what was in 1994 a great success, and won several
music awards.
Infernal Love appeared in 1995 with the fifth studio album by the band
that had been successfully touring outside Europe. In 1996 drummer Fyfe
Ewing left the band and was replaced two months later by Graham Hopkins
(drums) and Martin McCarrick (guitar, cello). That same year, the now
four-piece band played an opening act for Ozzy Osbourne in America. The
band released their next album in Europe in 1998 called Semi-Detached.
During their corresponding European tour their record label A & M went
broke - the planned handover to Mercury Records failed.
Semi-Detached wasn't initially released in the U.S.. and the rest of
the European tour, the band had to finance out of their own pocket. After
a poor start in 1999 because of drummer Graham Hopkins injury, and not
being able to play the drums for three months, the band got a new
recording contract with ARK 21 Records, provided for their only moderately
successful album Suicide Pact - You First.
In 2000, the band's best-of album So Much for the Ten Year Plan - A
Retrospective 1990-2000 came out, and they started touring in Europe. The
year 2001 started well at first: Therapy? played in the United States, and
the band recorded their next album. After a few more concerts it came to a
re-break with the record company and drummer Graham Hopkins, which is why
the Shameless album was released later in the year. For the already
planned concerts in 2002 helped drummer Keith Baxter out. Keith Baxter
died on January 4 2008 of liver failure.
In autumn 2002, with Spitfire Records, a new record label, High Anxiety
was released on the 2003 album. The rest of the year the band spent at
concerts and in the studio. In 2004 came the break with Martin McCarrick.
In September of that year the band released their tenth album Never
Apologise Never Explain. At the end of April in 2006 they released their
eleventh album One Cure Fits All.
In December 2007, Therapy? wrote a worldwide deal with the British
hard-rock label Demolition Records and began work shortly thereafter with
the twelfth album Crooked Timber, which came out on in March 2009.

A stopgap EP finds Therapy?
