Willie Hugh Nelson (born April 30, 1933 in
Abbott, Texas) is a country singer and songwriter who is one of the most
important personalities of the Outlaw movement and the genre in general.
Between 2002 and 2008, Nelson was with the alternative country label Lost
Highway under contract in which he released several critically acclaimed
albums. After his last album for Lost Highway, Moment of Forever, Nelson
moved to Blue Note / EMI, where in 2008 the cooperation with jazz
trumpeter Wynton Marsalis appeared.
The common Album Willie and the Wheel with the Western swing band
Asleep at the Wheel followed in 2009 Nelson's second album for Blue Note,
American Classic.
On November was arrested in Texas for possession of 6 ounces (170
grams) of marijuana and a deposit of 2,500 dollars was dismissed. In
2006 he was convicted of drug possession to a fine and six months
probation.
